Bryan C. Schoonard is an experienced severe weather and storm chaser from St. Petersburg, FL and a native Floridian who has lived in Florida his whole life.
Bryan's weather experience includes interning with WFTV Channel 9 Eyewitness News Severe Weather Team for almost three years under Chief Meteorologist Tom Terry. Areas of interest and study during his internship include Doppler radar, satellite interpretation, severe weather warnings, and tropical weather forecasting. The internship also gave Bryan the opportunity to work with the National Weather Service in Melbourne, FL where he ran severe weather simulations and tornado simulations.
Bryan has experienced severe weather close up to include; an F2 Tornado, the great hail storm of March 25, 1992, the 1993 Super storm, Hurricane Erin 1995, Hurricane Charley 2004, Hurricane Frances 2004, Hurricane Jeanne 2004, and Tropical Storm Fay 2008. In 2004, he chased Hurricane Frances with world famous tornado chaser Jeff Piotrowski.
Bryan's expertise is in Doppler radar, satellite interpretation, and remote sensing equipment.

He is a Native Floridian who comes from a family of hurricane veterans. One or more of his family members have been thru: The Great Hurricane of 1926, 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, 1941 Miami Hurricane, 1947 Miami Hurricane 1950 Hurricane King, 1960 Hurricane Donna, 1964 Hurricane Cleo, 1965 Hurricane Betsy, 1979 Hurricane David, 1992 Hurricane Andrew, 2000 Hurricane Gordon, 2004 Hurricane Charley and 2005 Hurricane Wilma.

His expertise is in business and technology but his fascination with weather and enthusiasm for storm chasing are what prompted the founding of The Xtreme Weather Team and the creation of this website.

He is 19 years old, a trained NWS storm spotter, and is currently working on getting his SkyWarn certification. His work out in the field during the May 2010 tornado outbreak was spectacular!
His location puts Matt in a great location to chase severe storms.
