Don't let your guard down with Irene. Just because you may have woke up this morning and Irene is "only" a Cat 2 Hurricane, this is a large and powerful Hurricane. The storm surge will be higher then normal due to astronomically higher tides. Irene will have Cat 3 storm surge with it up and down the East Coast. If you are being asked to leave and evacuate please do so and heed the local officials warnings. My track forecast rem...

Synopsis:
As of 8PM Hurricane Earl had max. winds of 110mph and a minimum pressure of 948mb. This makes Earl a Cat 2 storm. Earl has weakened throughout the day as dry air and shear is affecting him as he moves North. It looks like Earl has stopped anymore Westward movement and is now moving just East of Due North at 18mph. This should keep the bulk of the strongest winds off the coast of N.C and the Hatteras area. Earl should pass about 100 miles to the East(my original forecast..LOL). There co...

Synopsis:
As of 8AM Hurricane Earl had max winds of 145mph and minimum Central Pressure of 932mb. This makes Earl a strong Cat 4 storm. It looks like Earl has peaked in intensity this morning as the Satellite presentation has the eye looking alittle ragged. Shear will begin to increase out of the West as Earl moves North. Earl will still be a strong Cat 3 storm as he passes near or just to the East of Cape Hatteras overnite tonite. My track forecast has not changed much since yesterday, with jus...

Synopsis:
As of 4PM EDT Hurricane Earl was a strong Cat 3 storm with max. winds of 135mph and minimum Central Pressure of 941mb. Earl has maintained his strength today as he continues to fight the dry air that surrounds him. Shear has lessened today, but that dry air has kept him in check. I expect Earl to maintain his Cat 3 status as he makes his way towards the North Carolina OBX during the next 24 to 36 hours. The track forecast has not changed much since this morning. I expect Earl to pass a...

As of 8AM EDT. Hurricane Earl had maximum winds of 125mph(Cat 3) and minimum central pressure of 943mb. Earl has weakened alittle overnite and is now a strong Cat 3 storm. Earl has been fighting some dry air and wind shear but still is maintaining his strength this morning. I suspect Earl could increase alittle in intensity today, if that dry air can stay away from its core. After that, Earl should maintain his strength as it approaches the North Carolina coast, and should be a Cat 3 storm. Earl...
